Most people allow their doubts and fears to block them from creating the life they want.
People have dreams and goals they would like to pursue. Then, one of these outcomes occurs:
Doubts and fears kick in immediately, and the person doesn’t even start on their goal or dream
The person starts working toward the dream, then doubts or fears are triggered along the way. The person gives up and settles for something less.
The person starts working on the dream, and then something other than doubt or fear happens which causes the person to quit. The “something” could be an early failure, or an obstacle is encountered, or someone else talked the person out of pursuing the goal, or someone else attacked or belittled the person which in turn caused the person to give up on the goal, or “life got in the way.”
The person pushes through and has partial or total success accomplishing the goal or completing the project.
There are always obstacles to achieving any goal or end result - lack of time or money, other people, other commitments, competition, etc.
And 20% of all people are negative, counter-productive and toxic. These people work constantly to make other people doubt themselves, cause them to feel bad, make them afraid, keep them down and so on. Such negative people can be major obstacles for those who want to accomplish something in their lives. Especially in an artistic field, negative people are drawn to creative people like moths to a flame - not to help, but to destroy. (This will be addressed in more detail in Part 3 of this series.)
Here are two of the most fundamental and powerful truths in life:
The biggest and ONLY real obstacle and barrier to achieving your goals and dreams is YOU.
Every individual has nearly unlimited capabilities, power and creativity locked inside them.
Yes, any of the above obstacles or toxic people might exist in your life. But everyone has the inner strength and abilities to overcome ANY barrier and ANY toxic person. Every individual has enormous inner power and success potentials. You’re limited only by the limits you place on your imagination and your dreams.
Here is one of the ways that obstacles and other people can prevent someone from achieving his or her goals. Let’s say you have a dream or goal. Then some barrier occurs, such as a negative person in your life, or lack of money or time. Too often, we put too much attention on that barrier or negative person, and lose sight of our dream and goal. We might try to “fight” that barrier; that fight acts as a distraction from the goal.
Don’t fight obstacles or other people. Simply focus all attention on the dream, work out the first step to achieving it, then take that step no matter what else is happening around you.
The mechanisms of fear and doubt are simple, but powerful. You have a dream to be or do something. Some doubt or fear pops up in your mind. You dwell on the doubt or fear, you think too much about all the “reasons why I can’t accomplish this dream.” So of course you won’t accomplish what you want because you’re too wrapped up in the doubts and fears and not taking the right actions to get what you want.
Here’s another fundament law and truth of life:
You get what you dwell on, you get what you put your attention on, you get what you fear.
If you dwell on the “reasons why” you can’t accomplish a goal, that’s what you get - no goal accomplished.
If you dwell on a fear, you get more fear - and again, no goal accomplished.
If your attention is consumed by a negative toxic person in your life, you’ll have more of that person along with his or her negativity - and no dream achieved.
And on and on and on. You get what you dwell on.
The solution is simple, but not always easy to do:
Define very clearly in your mind EXACTLY what you want. Get a clear, vivid picture in mind of the end result or outcome you want to achieve. Then keep that end result in mind at all times, especially when an obstacle gets in your way.
If you always keep your goal in mind, this takes your attention off the barriers and off your own fears and doubts. Keeping the exact goal in mind focuses your attention, abilities and creative power in the right direction. This directs you to take the right actions needed to achieve the goal.
Obstacles, fears and doubts make up the “background noise” that most people face in life every day. Most people listen to the noise and therefore fail to reach their dreams.
Sadly, most people have given up on their most desirable and passionate dreams while still young. The majority of people have given up on their dreams before the age of 30. An even greater majority never achieve the life goals they REALLY wanted to achieve. They settle for less. Some fail completely.
The good news is that you have all the power, imagination, problem solving abilities, creative abilities and qualities needed to achieve your goals and dreams. The key is to tap into those success potentials. That’s the point and purpose of this series.
In Part 2 of this series, I’ll take these fundamental life laws and truths and show you a very powerful yet simple tool to help you tap into your potentials and capabilities, to achieve your dreams and create the life you want. This tool works like magic. I learned it and applied it in my own life very successfully. I know hundreds of others who have also used this tools successfully to create the lives they wanted.
